Mesh
The work of Matteo Levaggi combines the double influence of Balanchine and Cunningham and adds an astute topical touch to this solid theoretical/esthetic base. Like his contemporaries Benjamin Millepied, Christopher Wheeldon, Wayne MacGregor, and before them Angelin Preljocaj, he bears the legacy of these masters in his genes. Mesh, a show specially created for the Centro Pecci of Prato, captures both movement, film projections, sound effects, and scenic elements. The choreography creates a link between the dancing body and nature, which is represented here by objects/junk, creating an atmospheric, visionary landscape. With these emotionally-charged elements, we meet again on stage the “artistic couple” Matteo Levaggi and Elisabetta Guttuso, who made their debut at the 21st Milan Triennale at the Pirelli Hangar Bicocca in the piece Yvonne, with the Ensemble Sentieri Selvaggi.

River of Light
On the occasion of “Notte Bianca 2014” (overnight arts presented by Municipality of Florence), several art installations have been commissioned to artists. One of the most impressive is #River of Light 5 by the award-winning Creatmosphere. The UK artistic studio was founded in 2003 by French light artist Laurent Louyer and focuses on the exploration of “light in situ”. The studio places the context of each project at the heart of the creative process, working on different “urban lightscapes” within the city fabric and giving resonance to architecture and public spaces. Creatmosphere has played with light and water in numerous projects exploring the identities of cities in relation to historical water infrastructures, bringing awareness about water’s fundamental role in Nature and other related environmental issues. The series #River of Light is a touring installation that combines light, sound, and new technologies to celebrate the rivers of the world. #River of Light 5 was a dynamic installation on the River Arno by the famous Ponte Vecchio in Florence. The project consisted of 24 large light spheres that floated on and above the water, responding to the flow of the River Arno and the wind flow.
