Video-art installation conceived by Luigi Formicola and produced by Fondazione Sistema Toscana on the occasion of Europe Festival 2013.

The installation is an out of scale dance performance inspired by the story of the mythological character of Europa and her kidnapping perpetrated by the god Zeus. The installation was shot in studio and then adapted to the magnificent architecture of the Loggia dei Lanzi, a famous building on a corner of the Piazza della Signoria in Florence, Italy, adjoining the Uffizi Gallery. The wide arches, open to the square, become the screen for the projection. The bodies of the performers, thanks to original choreographies created for the project, join the stone sculptures already present in the loggia creating a dream-like effect.

The story is a modern tale in six acts which, through the mixing of ballet, contemporary dance, and hip pop, offers the public a suggestive and poetic journey of the myth of Europe: a symbol of purity and classicism who, through the encounter with power and magnificence, personified by Zeus, becomes aware of her own destiny and the role that history has entrusted her. The protagonists of the performance are Ana Sophia Scheller and Gonzalo Garcia, Principal Dancers of New York City Ballet, together with Balletto Teatro di Torino (choreographed by Matteo Levaggi) and the hip-pop crew Feel Good. The original costumes were created by the historic brand Loretta Caponi. The project has obtained the authorization of The George Balanchine Trust of New York for the use of the choreography of Apollon Musagète in the fifth act.
